SOGC/Cannell Lecture - Maternal Mortality: Are we doing better?

The SOGC/Cannell Lecture will be held on Friday, November 30th, 2018, at the Toronto Hilton, 145 Richmond Street West, Convention Level.

Speaker: Dr. Afshan Hameed

Presentation: Maternal Mortality: Are we doing better?

Dr. Afshan Hameed is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and has received subspecialty certification in Maternal Fetal Medicine. She is also board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. She currently serves as the Director of Obstetrical Services and also Director Quality & Safety for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of California, Irvine. Dr. Hameed's research interests include heart disease in pregnancy, improving maternal morbidity and mortality, and anticoagulation in pregnancy. 

On a personal note, she is a mother of triplets. She lives with her husband and 3 daughter and they all enjoy travel and outdoors.

  1. Understand top causes of maternal mortality 
  2. Understand which of the causes of maternal mortality are more preventable 
  3. Understand the impact of quality improvement strategies 
  4. Understand the sign and symptoms of cardiovascular disease in pregnancy 

Please note this session will be free for all U of T faculty. They are not required to pay a registration fee to attend the Cannell Lecture.
