Alumni of UofT Fellowship Becomes President of MFM Society

Headshot of Dr. Venu JainThe Department is pleased to announce that an alumnus from our Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship Program has recently been honoured with the position of President with the Canadian Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. Venu Jain completed his fellowship in 2007 and has since focused his faculty academic career in medical education at the University of Alberta as an Associate Professor. He currently focuses on knowledge translation and quality improvement in healthcare.

"The opportunity to train in the MFM program at Mount Sinai Hospital and the University of Toronto was indeed wonderful," said Dr. Jain. "Not only did I get to learn from several wonderful mentors and experience the specialty at its cutting edge, but I also worked with colleagues from all over the world, leading to a very enriched experience!"

We are pleased to celebrate the successes of our alumni in their faculty careers after completing their residency or fellowship at UofT, as examples of the impact of advanced postgraduate training at UofT ObGyn!

After completing residency training from University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston, and two additional years of research/training at Queen Charlotte and Chelsea Hospital, Imperial College London, Dr. Venu Jain did his training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, University of Toronto. He is currently a staff physician at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at University of Alberta, Edmonton. He is also the Co-chair for the QA committee for Women’s Health and for the RAH MoreOB program. He is Co-Chair for the MFM committee and member of the DI committee and the Academic Council of the SOGC. He was previously the Program Director for UGME at University of Alberta and Chair of the UGME committee of the SOGC.
