Dr Colleen McDermott is from Toronto where she currently lives with her husband Mark, and her three children, Camryn (8), Ryan (5), and Myles (3). She did her Bachelor and Masters of Science at McGill University. She then returned to Toronto to do her medical degree and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, which she completed in 2007. She then went to Indiana University and did a three-year fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstrutive Surgery/Urogynecology. At the same time she did a second Masters of Science in Clinical Research.

She then returned to Toronto once again and was on staff as a Urogynecologist at St. Michael's Hospital from 2010 to December 2016. She then moved her practice to Mount Sinai Hospital in Jan 2017. She is an Assistant Professor with the University of Toronto and is involved in numerous clinical research projects and fellowship/residency training within the division.
