Dr. Wilfred Steinberg is Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In 1971 Dr. Steinberg received his fellowship in obstetrics and gynaecology as well as joined the faculty of the University of Toronto. Since that time, Dr. Steinberg has been an active member of the teaching department at the undergraduate, postgraduate, community and academic level. In addition, his teaching in women’s health has spanned the local, regional, national and international level.

During the 1970s and 1980s, Dr. Steinberg served as member, and subsequently as director of Reproductive Care & Maternal Health for the Ontario Medical Association (OMA). During that time, Dr. Steinberg championed the development of safe obstetrical practices and advocated at the federal legislature for the introduction of safe and effective contraception for women.

For the past 15 years, Dr. Steinberg has focused his clinical and academic work in gynaecology. He has previously been active in advancement of new products in contraception, reducing maternal mortality, and implementation of midwifery. He now practices limited to consultation gynaecology with office procedures and colposcopy with a special interest in contraception and mature women's health issues.
