Pictured above is the research team at the first investigator's meeting for a new placental health study, titled "Environmental Factors in Placental Pathology: A New Diagnostic Method Based on Umbilical Vessel Wave Mechanics". In addition to scientific updates, logistics and study operations, discussion also included potential future projects and collaborations. We are very proud and excited to be working in collaboration with other University of Toronto Departments as well as Johns Hopkins! The study is funded by the National Institutes of Health's Human Placenta Project initiative. The initiative will support the development of new technologies to assess the health of the placenta and assess the effects of environmental factors on the placenta, with the ultimate goal of improving the health of mothers and children.
